A Poem
Nutcrackers and mice dance
to the clash of violins and electric guitars
Slow, as a child climbs a Christmas tree
A woman in a ballroom gown waltzes
on her own to 4/4 time
And all the merry while, a tiny battle rages on the piano
Fingers flutter as the stage's lights flash
bright white and brighter colours
Showing Father Christmas for what he really is.
The woman stops, but her gown still sways
as the room waltzes around her
Still in an off-kilter time.
A mouse pushes St. Nick from his sleigh
And the world explodes into a children's story
All on a mad Russian's Christmas.
It's good eh? Shannon wrote it the other day when she was listening to one o her favourite songs called "A Mad Russian's Christmas" by Trans-Siberian Orchestra. I love how evocative her poem is - and I'm not really one for poetry myself. And even though I'm biased, I really dug this.
