Comfort
The other night Shannon and I were in my room watching telly. She was wrapped up in her huge blanket fighting a cold. Her throat bothered her and she was stuffy - generally not feeling well. Out of the blue she got up and plopped down by my feet laying her head on my knee.
This isn't someting she does very often so I asked if she was all right. I figured she was feeling pretty icky. What she said in reply just made me melt :)
She said, "Your presence is comforting."
"My presence?"
"Yeah. I feel better when I'm near you. In England one night you were working downstairs and I had cut my finger on something. When I sat on your bed, my finger didn't hurt at all and when I sat on my bed, it did."
This was such a lovely, out-of-the-blue comment from her that I'm still thinking about it a few days later and I wanted to write it down.
I love my kid :)
